Hotel Fairfield Marriott, a project located in Vadodara comprising of 14 floors including 2 Basement for Parking, G+11 floors and with total area of 61,222 sq. ft.
Majority part of the lower floors was allocated to dining area which required a column free area for more clear space. The geometry of structure is different for above floors as they are intended for hotel rooms where more columns are permitted.
In this case, transfer girders were proposed which was connected with the slab level of the above floor and the floor below. This particular section was used as the Service Floor.
With the purpose of providing clear area for dining hall, transfer girders having span of 16.5m, were designed to support floating column and loading of 7 floors above it. The depth of the girders were restricted based on the Architectural requirements using Unbonded Post-Tensioning System.
P-T cables were profiled in such a way that any of the cables did not obstruct the predefined cut-outs in the girder section.
